Salud publishes guides about medical bills, insurance paperwork, and family health logistics. People make real financial decisions based on this material, so here is exactly how it gets made.

How a guide is produced

1. The question comes from real people. Topics come from the questions we see families actually ask, in communities, in interviews, and in search.
2. Drafting is AI-assisted, on a structured brief. We use AI tools for first drafts, working from a brief that specifies the question, the direct answer, and the authoritative sources to draw on. We say this plainly because it is true and because it is how we can publish carefully at our size.
3. Every claim is source-checked by a human. Facts must trace to primary sources: CMS and other federal agencies, state insurance departments, KFF and comparable research organizations, or plan documents. Guides carry a Sources section.
4. Billing and coding claims get expert review. Any statement about billing codes, claim processing, appeal rules, or dollar interpretations is reviewed by a CPC-certified medical billing professional before publication. Guides that passed this review carry a "Reviewed by [name], CPC" line; a guide without it makes no reviewed billing claims or hasn't published yet.

Rules we hold ourselves to

• Answer the reader's question first. Product mentions come last, if at all.
• No diagnosis, no treatment advice, and no "this is definitely an error" claims about any specific person's bill; we explain what to check and how to ask.
• No guaranteed-savings language, ever.
• We do not reproduce AMA-copyrighted CPT descriptors. Billing codes are explained in plain language, and where codes must be referenced directly we use public code sets (HCPCS Level II, ICD-10).
• Worked examples use synthetic numbers and are labeled as examples.
• Guides are educational, not medical, legal, or insurance advice; plan documents and state rules control every individual situation.

Corrections

If something we published is wrong, we want to know today. Email info@salud.love with the guide URL and the issue. Verified errors are corrected in the guide itself with a dated note, not silently.
