Children and parental consent

Written for parents and guardians who received a consent code from us, and for anyone who wants to know how Salud handles young people.

Children under 13 cannot use Salud

Salud is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app blocks account creation below that age. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email info@salud.love and we will remove it.

Teenagers aged 13 to 17 need your consent

In the United States, a person aged 13 to 17 can only use Salud with a parent or guardian's consent. Outside the United States, anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian's consent and supervision.

Here is what happens when a teenager tries to sign up:

  1. They give your email address.
  2. We email you a six-digit verification code, along with a summary of what Salud collects. That code is valid for 24 hours.
  3. You share the code with them only if you consent. Entering the code is what records your consent. If you do nothing, the code expires and the account is not created.

If you received a code and did not expect one, you do not need to do anything. Tell us at info@salud.love and we will look into it.

What Salud collects from a teenage account

  • Health and wellness tracking, such as mood, sleep and exercise.
  • Journal entries and emotional check-ins.
  • AI health coaching conversations, which are optional and only happen after AI processing is switched on in the app.

The same protections apply as for every other account: identifying details are stripped on our servers before any AI provider sees the content, we never sell health information, and we never use it for advertising. The Privacy Policy is the full account.

What you can do as a parent or guardian

  • Review general health trends for the account you consented to.
  • Receive alerts if we detect content suggesting a crisis.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time. Email us and we will revoke it. Withdrawing consent ends the teenager's access.
  • Request deletion of their account and data at any time. Use the same route everyone else uses, described on delete your account, and say in the message that you are the parent or guardian.

How to reach us

Email info@salud.love for anything on this page, including withdrawing consent, asking what we hold, or asking us to delete it. We acknowledge requests within 7 days and complete deletion requests within 30 days. If your account is in India and you want to raise a formal grievance, write to grievance@salud.love.
